An Illinois federal court approved a Cy Pres Award to Ronald McDonald House Charities following a nationwide class action settlement involving the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). Jordan Shaw, Zachary Ludens, and Lauren Palen from Shaw Lewenz represented a class comprised of hundreds of pharmacists in their case against the NABP. The NABP was represented by Denise Lazar and Kelly Hartzler from Barnes & Thornburg. A Cy Pres Award is a charitable donation of unclaimed common fund proceeds in a class action. It is the product good faith negotiations and ultimate resolution between the parties and their counsel. Shaw Lewenz appreciates Ms. Lazar, Ms. Hartzler, and their team for being worthy adversaries and consummate professionals. This is a great result for all involved.
